Marseille Final Lots Available – Cumming, GA

In Progress: Mountain Crest by Lennar

7630562014AvalonFrontwebAs the second largest homebuilder in the United States, the Lennar Corporation has announced that they are securing the permits to build a large neighborhood of houses and townhomes just West of Cumming.

As part of Forsyth County, the Georgia division of the Miami-based company says the new division—covering 444 acres and entitled Mountain Crest—will consist of 572 single-family homes and 124 townhouses along Chamblee Gap Road.

The project, which will hopefully connect to the Big Creek Greenway’s trail network, has a completion date of 2022; however, the first initial phases are expected to be open by 2016.

The actual development calls for 1.6 units per acre, but Lennar is promising an unprecedented 200 acres of green space within the community.

For now, Lennar is going through the process of getting approval through the county, as well as the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (which is required for all developments with 300+ lots).  Once all comments are addressed through the GMRC, Lennar will be looking to reduce the area’s required commercial and office use from 25% to zero, while also reducing the stream buffer from 50 feet to 25 feet.

You Can Make a Difference to Local Families in Need this Holiday Season

While there are many ways you can make a difference this holiday season, here are two ways you can help those in need right here in Forsyth County!

Adopt-A-Family for Christmas Program

The Adopt-A-Family for Christmas Program matches families served by Family Haven with individual or group sponsors. When a match is made, the family’s wish list is sent to the sponsor. Each family completes their wish list identifying items that they may need or want. The wish list includes sizes for each family member for clothing items and shoes. Also, the list includes a gift or toy item for each family member. While you may wish to include additional items not listed on the wish list, we ask that sponsors provide only items that are listed to ensure consistency across families. Family Haven will ensure that families receive their gifts during the week before Christmas.

We ask that all wish list items are unwrapped and taken to drop off site by December 13, 2013. Sponsors are welcome to provide wrapping paper to Family Haven for gift wrapping. All wish list items can be taken to our thrift store location at 598 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Cumming, Georgia 30040.

A Great DEAL

Simply make a monetary donation at the Forsyth County Family Haven thrift store (located at 598 Veteran’s Memorial Blvd.) and in return, you’ll be given a playing card. Sign it and the folks at the Thrift Store will happily display it.  That’s it!

Later, the signed cards are given to the shelter where families can use them to play Crazy Eights, Solitaire, and more, all the while seeing the signatures of those who cared enough to help.  All proceeds will benefit the families we serve this holiday.

Forsyth County Family Haven is an advocate for victims and families of domestic violence providing shelter, programs and community education to end the cycle of violence.
